SOMMOS becomes IWCA Silver Member

We are delighted to announce that SOMMOS, leading Aragón winery in Spain, has become a Silver member of IWCA.
This recognition validates the consistent work carried out by SOMMOS in measuring, reducing, and transparently reporting its greenhouse gas emissions.
SOMMOS has been investing in reducing its carbon footprint with renewable energy, improving energy efficiency, rigorous monitoring of emissions (Scopes 1, 2, and 3), and adopting technical solutions aligned with carbon‑neutrality goals for 2050.
As an IWCA Silver Member, SOMMOS joins 10 other Spanish wineries in the association who are putting carbon emission reduction on the agenda with the wine sector in Spain.
According to Javier Santafé, General Manager of Bodega Sommos:
“Becoming an IWCA Silver Member is an important milestone in SOMMOS’ sustainability journey and a recognition of the work our entire team has carried out over many years. We believe that producing great wines goes hand in hand with protecting the environment and preserving the resources that make winegrowing possible.”
He continues,
“This certification validates our commitment to measuring, reducing and transparently reporting our emissions, while encouraging us to continue improving and contributing to a more sustainable future for the wine industry.”
IWCA is a rapidly growing collective of wine-producing companies present in 16 countries across the globe. Representing 3+% of global wine production, our members form a unified voice for change, promoting reduction in carbon emissions and setting the standard for decarbonization internationally. The organization’s certification is recognized globally with retailers and industry professionals and authenticates winery action to promote emission reduction.
