Celebrating Three Wineries' GHG Emissions Accounting & Reduction Efforts

Congratulations to Domaine Lafage (France), Herdade dos Grous (Portugal), and Okanagan Crush Pad (Canada), who have achieved IWCA’s Silver Member status!

These top wine producers achieved this milestone having completed their first baseline, third-party verified GHG inventory across Scopes 1, 2, and 3 in the past 12 months. They have set a roadmap to work toward Net Zero by 2050, in line with IWCA's mission to decarbonize the wine sector.

"IWCA’s science-based approach to reducing carbon emissions is helping to build awareness of best practices that mitigate climate change, and its impacts, in vineyard and winery operations," explains Charlotte Hey, IWCA's Executive Director. "These members play a key role in reinforcing our collective work to decarbonize the global wine industry.

This brings the total number of IWCA Silver Members to 26, along with our 6 Gold Members and 13 Applicant Members! All IWCA Members are committed to the same goal: reducing their GHG emissions to reach Net Zero by 2050. Learn more about our three newest Silver Members below!

Domaine Lafage


Domaine Lafage, considered the flagship Domaine of the Roussillon, is run today by seventh generation winemakers, Jean-Marc and Eliane. The Lafage vineyard stretches from the Mediterranean coast up to the foothills of the Pyrenees, close to the Spanish border. Their multi-award-winning wines showcase the best terroirs of this amazing corner of the South of France. Jean-Marc and Eliane have always been dynamic and innovative, developing new wine styles, focusing on nurturing plots in exceptional locations of the Roussillon, exploring new viticultural techniques, and now working on reintroducing resistant and ancestral local varieties to adapt to climate change.

Herdade dos Grous is located in Portugal, in South Alentejo. Their sustainable production strategy, in all its aspects, is one of the structural pillars of the business. By drawing an agricultural mosaic, they maintain and promote the biodiversity of local ecosystems which, along with regenerative and organic farming practices, demonstrate the enormous respect and care they have for the land. Herdade dos Grous' commitment to reducing greenhouse gas emissions towards carbon neutrality are part of their day’s journey towards sustainability and greater resilience in the face of climate change.

From its own certified organic vineyards and with fruit from partner growers with family values, the team passionately creates wines that showcase the spectacular beauty of Canada’s Okanagan Valley.
